Nightly News…Now With Walking

By Chris Ariens

The blog Newscast Studio, which is about…well, newscasts and their studios… writes about last night’s Nightly News with Brian Williams. The first segment originated from the NBC newsroom so it included roving reporters and camera operators, with the occasional light box or handheld camera getting in the way.

I still give them props for trying. But more importantly, the broadcast, with limited commercial interruption thanks to a cholesterol drug, had expanded coverage on the situation in Iran including a story from Richard Engel, another on the Iranian-American community in Los Angeles and Williams did a Q&A with their Tehran Bureau Chief Ali Arouzi who’s not allowed to broadcast any of the pictures of the protests he’s been covering. Their discussion also took some video hits as Williams described the “electronic efforts to shut down the communications.”
