‘Nightline’ Wins Late Night for Second Straight Season

For the second straight season, ABC’s “Nightline” is #1 in late night.

“Nightline” won for the 2011-12 broadcast season across all key demos: Total Viewers (3.89 million), A25-54 (1.53 million) and A18-49 (1.17 million).

The ABC Show defeated the “Tonight Show with Jay Leno” by +99,000 Total Viewers and by +73,000 A18-49 viewers, posting its largest advantages over NBC in 18 years. “Nightline” also defeated the “Late Show with David Letterman” by +670,000 Total Viewers and +147,000 A25-54 viewers, the biggest margins in 13 years and 12 years, respectively.

ABC’s ratings are based on a 25-minute broadcast, while CBS and NBC are based on approximately :50 minutes (prior to the final national commercial break of each program).
