‘Nightline’ Tops Letterman 20 Consecutive Weeks

By Chris Ariens

ABC News’ “Nightline” finished last week on top of the late night ratings race — ahead of NBC’s “The Tonight Show” and CBS’ “Late Show with David Letterman.” The ABC News program tied Jay Leno in the A25-54 demo. And for the first time since 1999, “Nightline” has outperformed Letterman among Total Viewers for 20 weeks straight.

Leno was in repeats last week, and Letterman’s Friday average was excluded due to CBS’ NFL coverage.

“Nightline” continues to rank first for the full 2009-2010 season-to-date, averaging 3.73 million Total Viewers.
