NFL Player’s Errant Warrant Report Goes National

By Alex Weprin

New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez has not been arrested, and no warrant has been issued for his arrest… yet. That isn’t to say that a warrant will not be issued, but it has not happened as of writing.

That did not stop ABC’s “Good Morning America” and Fox News Channel’s “Happening Now” from reporting as such this morning, both citing local Boston media. FNC would walk back the warrant claim later on, with Boston Globe reporter emphatically saying that no warrant had been issued yet.

Hernandez is under investigation in relation to a murder in Massachusetts. Hernandez was seen with the victim the night of the crime, and as it happened he is being sued by someone else who claims the NFL player shot him in the face and left him to die.

It would not be surprising is a warrant is issued at some point, but until it is, these earlier reports should be scored as a fumble.
