NBC News has announced that its upcoming primetime newsmagazine will be called “Rock Center with Brian Williams.” The network put together a sizzle reel for the show, highlighting a wide range of NBC News reports from over the past few months:

Update: Three different sources reached out to TVNewser saying that The Rockefeller Group–which owns Rockefeller Center and leases space to NBCUniversal–had to sign off on the name before NBC could go forward with using it.

NBC has already launched a Twitter feed and Facebook page for the show, although content is understandably lacking for the time being. The program, anchored by Williams, will feature exclusive reports from correspondents Kate Snow and Harry Smith, and will also feature contributions from MSNBC, NBC News and CNBC reporters and anchors.

“Rock Center” will debut this Fall, the only question that remains is when that will be. NBC has not announced a debut date or time, though the network does not have much room for the show on its schedule at the moment with the Fall season set to launch over the next couple of weeks. It could replace one of NBC’s new Fall shows if they flop, or could be plugged into “Dateline”‘s Friday night timeslot in a pinch. If no new shows falter, NBC could also debut the show during a week when they might normally be in reruns.
