New Low For CNN’s 10pmET Hour

By Merrill Knox

CNN SpotlightOn the heels of Thursday night’s win among younger viewers for “The Sixties,” a low for CNN in the 10pmET hour Friday night: “CNN Spotlight” and “Unguarded with Rachel Nichols” averaged a combined 182,000 total viewers and 35,000 A25-54 viewers, the network’s lowest demo delivery in the timeslot in 14 years (since May 9, 2000).

CNN came in fourth in cable news for the hour, behind Fox News’ “Hannity,” MSNBC’s “Lockup” and HLN’s “Forensic Files.” It was CNN’s second-lowest primetime delivery of the year in the A25-54 demo.

As we reported last week, all of the cable news networks suffered in May. CNN and HLN were down significantly year-over-year, while Fox News hit 12-year lows and MSNBC hit seven-year lows for the month.
