Nevada Comes Up Short In Super Bowl Bets

By Marcus Vanderberg

It was a worst-case scenario for Nevada sports books Sunday night during Super Bowl XLV.

The combination of Green Bay covering the spread and the final score finishing higher than 45½ resulted in Nevada only taking home $724,176.

To put that in comparison, Nevada sports books made $6,678,044 from last year’s Super Bowl.

“The combination of the ‘over’ and the Packers’ victory was lethal,” said MGM Resorts Race and Sports Book director Jay Rood. “It’s the worst Super Bowl I’ve seen since being here in 1993. There was no getting around it. Not a great scenario.”

Nearly $88 million bet on Super Bowl XLV, up over $5 million from last year.
