Networks Prepare for President Obama’s Supreme Court Announcement

President Obama has scheduled an 11 a.m. ET news conference to announce his selection to fill the vacancy on the Supreme Court, following the death of Justice Antonin Scalia.

“I’ve made my decision: Today, I will announce the person I believe is eminently qualified to sit on the Supreme Court,” the president announced in an email this morning. The Rose Garden announcement is widely believed to be the opening of a massive political fight in Washington.

“I am fulfilling my constitutional duty,” Obama said at the close of his message. “I’m doing my job. I hope that our Senators will do their jobs, and move quickly to consider my nominee.”
