Networks Cover DTV Transition Delay

By SteveK

Congress voted to delay the digital TV transition yesterday, from February 17 to June 12. “[President] Obama supports the delay, sharing concerns that 20 million mostly poor, elderly and rural households were not ready for the congressionally mandated switch,” said the Reuters story (also: FBNY’s Glynnis MacNicol). The broadcast morning shows touched on the decision today in brief news segments, and it was part of reports on ABC and NBC during the evening newscasts last night.

• The National Associated of Broadcasters supports the delay as well, offering new spots and resources that promote the June 12 deadline.
