At 9:21pmET, the Associated Press called the Massachusetts special election for the late Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat for Republican Scott Brown. Fox News, which was airing “Hannity” and MSNBC airing “The Rachel Maddow Show” have been going wall-to-wall with coverage and sourced the AP with the call. Bret Baier made the call on Fox News.
At 9:24pmET on CNN, Larry King interrupted a Dr. Sanjay Gupta live report from Haiti and tossed to Wolf Blitzer in Washington who called the race for Brown. John King and Jessica Yellin are reporting from Boston.
NBC’s Norah O’Donnell reported at 9:47pm that Pres. Obama phoned Scott Brown to congratulate him on his win.
At 9:54pm, Sean Hannity reported that Senate leader Harry Reid has recognized the win and announced that Brown “will be seated when the proper paperwork is received.”

MSNBC will produce live hours of Countdown at 10pmET, Maddow at 11 and Hardball at Midnight. Maddow and Chris Matthews are in Boston.

And ABC’s George Stephanopoulos heads back to Washington and will get the first post-special election interview with President Obama. The interview happens tomorrow and will air first on “World News with Diane Sawyer.”
