NBC’s Wheatley On The News “Market”

By Brian

NBC’s Bill Wheatley “wonders whether the new channels of news distribution — laptops, cellphones and who knows what else to come — can garner the kind of audiences that attract advertisers,” Joanne Ostrow writes…

“I suspect there’s always going to be a market for news that is professionally gathered and edited,” he said. “It’s an uphill climb. Having said that, our website is up to 20 million unique users a month, and ad revenues are growing.”

Wheatley apologizes for “sounding like an accountant,” but that’s another indication of how TV news has evolved.”
