Americans are apparently more interested in real medical mysteries and fictional Law & Order than their post-9/11 security.

Katie Couric‘s “9/11 special, ‘Five Years Later: How Safe Are We?,’ was barely noticeable at 10 p.m. on Wednesday with an estimated 5.91 million viewers, down 19 percent from the time period’s previous average this summer, according to Nielsen estimates.
