NBC Promotes 2 Newsgathering Directors

VP David Verdi announced a couple staffing changes at NBC News Thursday afternoon.

Kip Whitlock has been promoted to director of domestic newsgathering. He replaces Robert Dembo, “who has taken on the role of executive director, TV 2.0 – NBC News, reporting to Alex Wallace, the memo says.

Whitlock has been with NBC since 1996. “Kip was promoted to NE Bureau Chief in March 2002 and most recently to Deputy Bureau Chief – Burbank in April 2005. This past year Kip has been working on the National Crew Desk project in Secaucus, NJ.”

In addition, Thomas Bonifield has been promoted to deputy director of foreign newsgathering, reporting to Danny Noa. Bonifield has been the Moscow bureau chief since 2000. (NBC packed up in Moscow earlier this year.)
