NBC News Pays Tribute To Bob Bazell

By Alex Weprin

Friday was correspondent Robert Bazell’s last day at NBC News. As we reported in March, Bazell is retiring as NBC’s science and health correspondent to join the faculty at Yale University, where he will serve as an adjunct professor in the Department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology.

On “NBC Nightly News,” Natalie Morales–who was filling in as anchor–wished Bazell well in a retrospective:

Bazell’s final report for NBC aired on “Nightly News” Thursday, about a disease called FTD that affects the brain (watch it after the jump). After the broadcast, he was feted by colleagues at the Rock Center Cafe.

“Your tireless efforts to explain what we couldn’t understand and give us counseling and hope for the best treatments has earned you our highest regard and unending dedication,” said NBC News northern regional director Kip Whitlock at the goodbye. “From our hearts – Thank you to you and your wonderful family.”
