ABC News veteran Robin Gradison is making the move to NBC News as deputy Washington bureau chief, effective January 3.

Gradison will be the No. 2 to NBC’s Washington bureau chief Ken Strickland. She’ll run the bureau’s day-to-day operations, guide staff, manage coverage and execute pool responsibilities. Strickland made the announcement this morning in an internal memo to D.C. staff.

“Robin understands how to direct resources in order to serve the needs of both TV and digital, and values investing in individuals to develop talented teams,” Strickland wrote. “We’re lucky to find this set of skills in one person, and I look forward to her partnership in overseeing the bureau.”

A 6-time Emmy award-winning producer and graduate of Brown University, Gradison heads to NBC News after more than two decades at ABC News. She was a producer for Nightline, moved over to NPR as senior producer for Morning Edition, and then returned to ABC News as a senior producer for Good Morning America and oversaw a 20-person staff in Washington.
