MSNBC President on Shuster: ‘He was not moral, ethical or professional’

By Chris Ariens

Mediaite has obtained an email correspondence between MSNBC president Phil Griffin and a (former) viewer in which Griffin explains he needs “team players” and that what suspended MSNBC anchor David Shuster did, when he took part in a test for show on CNN while still under contract with MSNBC was “not moral, ethical or professional.”

The unnamed viewer wrote, in part, to Griffin:

Your “suspension” of David Shuster makes it necessary for me to boycott MSNBC, which is slowly but surely going the way of Fox “News”.

Late last night, Griffin replied with a one line response…

Sorry, but this is a business and I need team players. He was not moral, ethical or professional and that is not fair to the 500 people who work at msnbc.

Thanks for your note,

Phil
