MSNBC Cuts More Than a Dozen

By Chris Ariens

In a series of staffing cuts over the last several months, MSNBC has laid off more than a dozen employees.

The cuts which included segment producers, show producers and video producers, began in March and continued with 10 staffers laid off in August. At the same time, MSNBC has at least 14 job openings for various programs and units.

It’s all part of a restructuring as the network continues the pivot away from opinion shows to breaking newsgathering and programming. As part of the process, many positions were reviewed, and changes were made to job descriptions.
