By A.J. Katz

morning-show-anchors_640-846x836It was a rather quiet week for the morning news shows, at least from a total viewership standpoint. That said, the programs did deliver some notable year-over-year results.

Good Morning America won the week of July 4th in total viewers, though the margin of victory was probably a bit closer than the program would have liked. GMA fell 6 percent in total viewers and fell 9 percent in the news demo from the same week in 2015. That said, GMA’s performance in the demo was slightly up from the previous week.

Today was the No. 1 morning show in the key demo again last week, and the program has held the top spot in the demo for ten consecutive months, winning 44 out of the last 45 weeks. The program also managed to improve 2.5 percent in the demo and held steady in total viewers compared to the same week in 2015.
