Morning Show Ratings: Week of July 30

The “Today” show was solidly in first place last week during week one of the London Summer Olympics. It was the first time in five weeks the show led in Total Viewers while also regaining the lead in A25-54 viewers, won for the first time in 17 years the week of July 23 by “Good Morning America.”

Compared to the same week last year “Today” was the only program to add viewers, though “GMA” and “CBS This Morning” were only down slightly vs. last year.

Compared to week one of the Beijing games four years ago, “Today” was down -8% in total viewers and down -16% in younger viewers.

“GMA” had its smallest margins opposite “Today” during a Summer Olympics since at least the 1996 Atlanta games. (“Today” did not air during the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona.)

The averages for the week of July 30:

  • Total Viewers: NBC: 5.965M / ABC: 4.359M / CBS: 2.251M
  • A25-54 viewers: NBC: 2.497M / ABC: 1.642M / CBS: 853K
