Morning Show Ratings: Week of July 2

“Good Morning America” wins the holiday week in Total Viewers, and “Today” continues its winning streak in younger viewers, but “CBS This Morning” is showing the most growth.

“GMA’s” win over “Today” was by the largest margin in 17 years, with a +243,000 viewer difference. “Today” which saw a week of substitutes before this week’s co-host debut of Savannah Guthrie, edged “GMA” in the A25-54 demo by +24,000 viewers, the closest “GMA” has gotten in nearly 17 years.

Compared to the same week last year “Today” is down -15% in Total Viewers and down -24% in younger viewers. “GMA” is up slightly in both measurements while “CBS This Morning,” which trails the other shows by 2 million viewers, is up +11% in Total Viewers and up +29% in younger viewers.

Due to the July 4th holiday, all three programs were coded specials on Wednesday and are excluded from the average.

The averages for the week of July 2:

  • Total Viewers: NBC: 4.219M / ABC: 4.462M / CBS: 2.369M
  • A25-54 viewers: NBC: 1.667M / ABC: 1.643M / CBS: 968K
