By A.J. Katz

Once again, there was a split decision in the mornings, with Good Morning America holding onto the No. 1 spot in total viewers, and Today remaining No. 1 in the ad-friendly A25-54 demo.

ABC more than doubled its total viewer lead over NBC in the mornings versus the same week last year (+117 percent). That said, GMA was -10 percent in total viewers and -18 percent in the news demo compared to the same week in 2016.

NBC continues to dominate ABC in the mornings among viewers from the key A25-54 demo. With last week’s victory, Today has now won 81 straight weeks in the key demo (97 of the last 98 weeks), its best streak in more than four years. But Today had a rough ratings week relative to last year, -13 percent in total viewers and -19 percent in the news demo.
