By Chris Ariens

Two years ago this week, NBC’s “Today” led ABC’s “Good Morning America” by 870,000 viewers. In the latest Nielsen ratings, things have swung the other way with “Good Morning America” holding a 605,000 viewer lead on “Today.”

“GMA” has now led the way for six straight months in total viewers, which it hasn’t done in 20 years. The ABC morning show was up +11% in Total Viewers and up +3% in A25-54 viewers vs. last year, while “Today” is down double digits (-10%/-14%).

“Today” put up its best numbers since the week of Nov. 5, when the presidential election was held. And in younger viewers, for the fourth time in five weeks, “Today” led “GMA” by 3,000 viewers.
