Morning Show Ratings: Week of January 31

By Molly Stark Dean

Last week — with Egypt garnering the bulk of the news coverage — was a great week for morning network news programs — being that all three saw growth from week-to-week in both Total Viewers and among viewers A25-54. NBC’s “Today” remained the top morning network news program for the week of January 31-February 4. “Today” grew 600K in Total Viewers and 540K among younger viewers.

ABC’s “Good Morning America” grew over the same week last year in Total Viewers (+12%) and younger viewers (+3%) and grew its overall audience from year-to-year for the 4th week in a row.  “GMA” also grew the most in Total Viewers of the three network morning new programs compared to last year (“Early Show” was up +11%, “Today” was up by +6%). CBS’s “Early Show” saw growth in both total viewership and in the demo compared to the previous week.
