Morning Show Ratings: Week of Feb. 27

morning-tv-tvnewser_2016Ratings have been less than stellar for the broadcast morning news programs in 2017, at least relative to last year. The trend continued this past week as ABC, NBC and CBS once again experienced year-over-year audience declines in the mornings.

Despite the dropoff, one trend remained the same: Good Morning America was the No. 1 morning show of the week in total audience, Today was the leader among adults 25-54, and CBS This Morning remained No. 3.

Good Morning America finished No. 1 in total viewers this past week, and delivered its largest total viewer advantage over Today in 14 months. That said, GMA was -8 percent compared to the same week last year (Feb. 29, 2016), and also saw a year-over-year drop of -15 percent in the news demo.

Today was the No. 1 morning show in the ad-friendly news demo for the 62nd consecutive week. The program was -14 percent in the category from the same week last year. Today was also -12 percent from last year in total viewers.

CBS This Morning was -4 percent in total viewers and -6 percent in the news demo versus the same week last year.

The averages for the week of Feb. 27:

  • Total Viewers: ABC: 4.804M / NBC: 4.318M / CBS: 3.627M
  • A25-54 viewers: ABC: 1.544M / NBC: 1.642M / CBS: 1.067M
