Morning Show Ratings: Week of August 4

morningshowanchors2014“CBS This Morning” remains in third place among the morning shows, but it was the only program to show growth compared to the same week last year. The CBS News program was up +9% in viewers and up +1% in the demo, while “Good Morning America” and “Today” lost viewers, year-to-year.

No. 1 “Good Morning America” held a +775,00 viewer lead on No. 2 “Today” last week, but was down -8% in viewers and down -7% in the A25-54 demo. “Today” was also down -7% in the demo, while down -6% in viewers.

The bright spot for the NBC show, compared to the same week last year, “Today” cut “GMA’s” leads by 20% in total viewers and 5% in the demo. Still, “GMA” leads “Today” by its largest A25-54 season advantage to-date.

“GMA” has been No. 1 in Total Viewers in 106 of the last 110 weeks, finishing behind “Today” only during the two weeks of the 2012 Summer Olympics and the two weeks of the 2014 Winter Olympics.

As for CBS, the network is in its closest competitive position with “Today” in 20 years.

  • Total Viewers: ABC: 4.781M / NBC: 4.006M / CBS: 2.829M
  • A25-54 viewers: ABC: 1.743M / NBC: 1.530M / CBS: 885,000
