Morning Show Ratings: Week of August 12

By Chris Ariens

“Good Morning America” marks one year as the No. 1 network morning show. With the week of August 12 in the books, “GMA” has not lost a week among total viewers in the last 52 weeks.

“It is an amazing accomplishment and a fantastic ride,” says “GMA” Senior EP Tom Cibrowski. “We are only just beginning.”

“GMA” snapped the “Today” show’s 16-year winning streak in April, 2012. The programs see-sawed at No. 1 for the next several months. Then, following “Today’s” coverage from the London Olympics, “GMA” took the number one spot, and hasn’t looked back (while always looking over its shoulder).

Compared to the same week last year “GMA” increased its audience +9% in both total viewers and the A25-54 demo. While “Today” was down -3% in viewers and down -5% in the demo. But it is No. 3 “CBS This Morning” showing the most growth in the morning up +13% in total viewers, while remaining flat among younger viewers.

The averages for the week of August 12:

  • Total Viewers: ABC: 5.078M / NBC: 4.270M / CBS: 2.676M
