‘Good Morning America’ Wins First Season in 19 Years

As expected, ABC’s “Good Morning America” finishes the 2012-2013 TV season in first place — the first time that’s happened since years began with a one (1993-1994).

The ABC program wins the season with the largest overall audience and by the largest margin (+688,000) over No. 2 NBC’s “Today” show in more than 21 years – since before the 1991-92 season. As recently as the 2010-2011 season, “Today” enjoyed a +740,000 lead on “GMA.”

“GMA” was up +9% in total viewers and up +4% in the demo compared to the 2011-2012 season. “Today” was down -15% in the demo while “CBS This Morning” was up +2%. The CBS morning show had its best season since 2008-2009.

  • Total Viewers: ABC: 5.300M / NBC: 4.612M / CBS: 2.770M
  • A25-54 viewers: ABC: 1.970M / NBC: 1.884M / CBS: 998K
