More than 17 Million Watch Andy Rooney’s Farewell

Andy Rooney’s “60 Minutes” send-off drew big numbers for the venerable CBS News magazine.

Sunday’s show was “60’s” largest October audience in four years, drawing 17.11M Total Viewers making it the 4th most-watched show of the week. The last time “60 Minutes” drew more than 17 million viewers in October was Oct. 14, 2007, when 17.23M viewers watched.

“60 Minutes” was Sunday’s most-watched non-sports program. The show featured a Morley Safer interview with the 92-year-old Rooney about his career at CBS, followed by Rooney’s 1097th original essay – his last regularly scheduled appearance on the program.
