TVNewser has learned of at least three more layoffs related to the latest belt-tightening at NBC News/MSNBC. MSNBC dayside EP Sharon Newman was among those laid-off today. Newman joined MSNBC from ABC News in 2004. NBC veteran Bryan Queen, who joined MSNBC from the network’s affiliate news service NBC Newschannel is also being let go.
Two weeks ago, an insider told me the total number of layoffs would be less than 20 with half coming from NBC News and half from MSNBC.
And from CBSNews.com and the restructuring there, we received word today that fellow blogger Matthew Felling is among the employees being cut. Matthew was editor of The Public Eye, a blog which sought to “bring transparency to the editorial operations of CBS News.” The interactive division at CBS cut as many as 20 people late last week.
