Zbigniew Brzezinski, the former national security adviser to President Jimmy Carter, and father of MSNBC host Mika Brzezisnki died Friday night at a hospital in Fairfax, VA.
“My father passed away peacefully tonight,” Brzezinski wrote on Instagram. “I love you Dad,” she added. Mika Brzezinski, a co-host of Morning Joe, also remembered her father, who was 89, in several tweets.
The elder Brzezinski was national security adviser during the Iran hostage crisis. In more recent years, he would comment on matters of foreign policy, often phoning into his daughter’s show to discuss the issues of the day.
