She might have scored an interview with President Obama, but the glow of that big get didn’t overshadow one story Mika Brzezinski simply didn’t want to cover this morning.
“I’m going to file this next story under stories my producer is making me do that I don’t agree with, but OK,” Brzezinski said, before reporting on a a mug shot of a California man whose looks have made his criminal photo a viral sensation on Facebook.
“One woman actually wrote this…’mama, I’m in love with a criminal.’ I swear.”
This denunciation by Brzezinski pales in comparison to 2007, when she infamously attempted to light one of her scripts on fire in protest over leading “Morning Joe” with a story on Paris Hilton.
“My producer Andy Jones is not listening to me,” Brzezinski said back then, then grabbing a lighter to try and burn her scripts. Luckily, Willie Geist was by her side, serving as MSNBC’s resident firefighter. “Easy, easy…you need to be subdued,” Geist said, yanking the lighter from his colleague.
