Michelle Hord-White is leaving ABC News to become vice president of talent development and pipeline programs at NBC Universal, ABC News president Ben Sherwood announced yesterday in a memo to staff.
Hord-White is currently the director of talent recruitment and development at ABC. She began with the network in 1998 as a producer on “Good Morning America,” working as a deputy in the field and series unit before graduating to senior producer for the second hour. Five years ago, she joined the talent recruitment division at ABC.
“Michelle’s compassion and insight made her a trusted advisor to many in the news division and I know you will agree that we are all lucky to have crossed paths with her,” Sherwood wrote.

Michelle Hord-White recently let me know that she is leaving ABC News to accept a new position as VP, Talent Development and Pipeline Programs at NBCUniversal.
Michelle started as a producer at GMA in 1998 and worked as the deputy in the field and series unit. She produced for Robin and Diane; oversaw special anchor series and later served as a senior producer for the second hour and took the lead in developing all of our GMA contributors.
Almost 5 years ago, Michelle joined talent development and helped recruit some of the best and brightest into our organization. She also worked to create development opportunities for news employees through mentoring and rotations at other shows and platforms.
Michelle’s compassion and insight made her a trusted advisor to many in the news division and I know you will agree that we are all lucky to have crossed paths with her.
On a personal note, I had the privilege of working in the GMA trenches with Michelle and have always admired her stellar qualities as a colleague and human being.
