Menu: NYT’s Stelter on Iran and More

By SteveK

Today on the mediabistro.com Morning Media Menu we’re joined by Brian Stelter of the New York Times.

He’s been traveling around the country this week with storm chasers, and describing the situation on Twitter. We also discuss Iran coverage. “I think that story is going to get more and more interesting all week as more and more foreign journalists are forced out of the country,” says Stelter.

He commented on the cable news coverage. “I’ve been thinking a lot about the effect that cable news coverage has on people’s awareness of a story, and I really think that there’s something about rolling live coverage for hours at a time that sends a message that this is important, and the fact that the cable didn’t really do that this weekend is a little strange,” he said. “It might be a sign of what’s to come on cable news. Maybe cable news isn’t going to be that IV drip of news, maybe Twitter’s going to be that IV drip of news.”
