CBS is planning a memorial service for longtime 60 Minutes correspondent Morley Safer, who died in May at age 84.

The event is set for Thursday morning at the Frederick P. Rose Hall at Jazz at Lincoln Center which was the location for the memorial services of other CBS News legends who passed away in recent years, including creator Don Hewitt in Oct., 2009, Andy Rooney in January 2012, Mike Wallace a few months later in May and Bob Simon in April 2015.

Safer, who had been in declining health, died May 19 just days after he announced his retirement from CBS News. He watched a tribute episode of 60 Minutes, which aired on May 15, from his home in Connecticut. Safer had been a correspondent on the show for 46 years and with CBS News for 52 years.
