Memo To President Obama: ‘Meet The Press’ and ‘Fox News Sunday’ Will See You Now

It seems that the Sunday public affairs shows are getting a little agitated with President Obama. Via Johnny $, here is video of Chris Wallace on “Fox News Sunday” noting that the President hasn’t appeared on his program since the heart of the 2008 Presidential campaign.

Last week on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” David Gregory similarly noted that the President hasn’t appeared on his program this cycle, citing a “long-standing invitation” to the leader of the free world.

Of course, NBC and Fox aren’t alone. President Obama hasn’t guested on ABC’s “This Week” or CBS’ “Face the Nation” since 2009 (FTN’s mislabeling a few weeks back notwithstanding), but so far neither of those shows has put the screws to him yet.

It is understandable why the President might think to skip the Sunday shows. Candidates are trying to reach undecided voters, and the Sunday shows tend to attract a more political active (and partisan) crowd. That said, the Sunday shows often set the tone for the week ahead in political news, so skipping them carries with it a level of risk.
