Megyn Kelly Talks About Trump: ‘It Was Bizarre Because I Became the Story’

By Mark Joyella

On ABC’s Good Morning America Friday, Fox News host Megyn Kelly described the experience of being singled out by Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump as “bizarre,” and said she hopes Trump shows up for the next GOP debate on Fox.

“It was bizarre because I became the story. He was so very focused on me that I became the story and, you know, you never want to be the story when you’re a news person,” Kelly said. “You want to be covering the story so it was like an Alice-through-the-looking-glass experience.”

Kelly, who will be a guest on the post-Super Bowl live Late Show with Stephen Colbert, was on another late night show last night. In an appearance Thursday night on NBC’s The Tonight Show, Kelly defended her questions at the Republican debate that sparked Trump’s accusations of unfair treatment, saying she served up fastballs to each of the candidates. “That’s what I’m supposed to do. They want George Washington’s job. So, I’m a member of the press, and we’re supposed to…press and see if they’re worthy.”

On GMA, Kelly shared her advice for Martha Raddatz, who will be co-moderating ABC’s Republican debate Saturday: “Stand tall.” As for her next shot at questioning Trump–at the Fox News debate set for March–Kelly said she’s already got her questions prepared:

“He hasn’t committed but he will show up at that one, which is great because Brett, Chris and I will be moderating it– Bret Baier, Chris Wallace and myself. And we will just move our Trump questions from the last debate over to this debate. And I’ll finally get a chance to ask him.”
