Megyn Kelly is celebrating her 46th birthday today, with a big party tonight. It’s a birthday/book bash celebrating the publication of her memoir, Settle for More. Kelly has been making the rounds on all the broadcast networks, her own channel, as well as CNN, twice. Kelly also sat down with Charlie Rose for an in-depth discussion of the book at Barnes & Noble in Manhattan Wednesday night, which TVNewser attended.
Just as Rose asked about the sexual harassment accusations against Roger Ailes, Kelly’s three young children bounced into the front row of the packed 4th floor space at the Union Square bookstore. “We’ll skip the details,” Kelly said. About why she spoke up following Gretchen Carlson‘s lawsuit against Ailes, Kelly told Rose, “My fear that this behavior was continuing was greater than my loyalty to him.” Ailes continues to deny all the accusations against him.
As for Donald Trump making her a target through much of his campaign, Kelly joked, “I’m sure I’m being considered for press secretary.” When Rose asked whether cable news was responsible for the rise of Trump, Kelly reminded him, “It was your boss, Les Moonves, who said he may not be good for America, but it’s great for CBS.”
And on her contract, for which she’ll earn north of $20 million a year if she stays with Fox, Rose asked, “You don’t need $20 million?” “I don’t need any millions. But I will be paid what I’m worth,” Kelly said.
In addition to The Tonight Show tonight, and Don Lemon‘s CNN show last night, here’s a look at some of Kelly’s other TV appearances this week. We also interviewed Kelly for a wide-ranging interview that will be a part of Adweek’s annual Hot List, publishing next week.
