Megyn Kelly Begins Book Tour Talking Donald Trump, Roger Ailes, and Her Future at Fox

Megyn Kelly‘s hotly-anticipated memoir Settle For More is out today. While some excerpts have leaked and reviews have been written, Kelly began the book tour in earnest on Good Morning America this morning. George Stephanopoulos interviewed her in the first 10 minutes of the show discussing Donald Trump‘s election and transition.

“No question he is thin-skinned and can be mean-spirited and vindictive,” she said of Trump, adding, “But my own experience with him proves that he’s able to let things go if he so chooses. He came after me like a dog with a bone for nine months but finally when I went to see him at Trump Tower and believe me, I was not conciliatory toward him, we got past it.”

Kelly returned in the second half hour to talk about another major turning point of 2016: the sexual harassment charges against and resignation of Fox News CEO and co-founder Roger Ailes.

“In my mind I had attributed it to he was interested in me, that he was having a marital difficulty, perhaps he was just interested in having an extramarital affair,” she said when Ailes targeted her during her first year at Fox News. “It was very on the nose and then it culminated in a physical attempt to be with me which I rejected in his office. He tried to kiss me three times, so I rejected that and when I rejected that he asked me when my contract was up.” Ailes has denied all the allegations against him.

“All I really wanted, because I didn’t know whether it was just me, just Gretchen [Carlson], is this a serial problem or not? And that’s why I called Lachlan Murdoch to tell him that it did happen to me 10 years earlier and that they needed to take a hard look at who they had running the company.”

Kelly, whose contract is up net year, said she’s happy to stay at Fox News but that she’s exploring her options. “I’m grateful Fox News has given me the 12 years I’ve had there, and they want me to stay and in my opinion the Murdochs who are running it are honorable men, would want to do what’s right.

As much as I love my job I love those three little lives that my husband and I brought into the world.”

Kelly’s interviews continue tomorrow on the Today show. She’ll also sit down with Charlie Rose for her first book store talk in Manhattan tomorrow evening.
