Matt Lauer’s Producer Joins ‘The Early Show’

CBS’ “The Early Show” has named Sean Reis senior producer. Reis comes from NBC’s “Today” where he had been a producer and fill-in supervising producer for the last 10 years. He had been working closely with anchor Matt Lauer. More information about the hire in the press release after the jump.

Reis Joins Executive Producer David Friedman’s Team at “The Early Show” after 10 Years at “The Today Show”

Sean Reis has been named senior producer of CBS News’ THE EARLY SHOW, it was announced today by the show’s Executive Producer, David Friedman. The appointment is effective immediately.

“I am thrilled Sean has joined CBS,” said David Friedman. “We are committed to moving ‘The Early Show’ to the next level and Sean’s experience at ‘Today,’ coupled with his understanding of the morning audience and the genre that is morning news, makes him an invaluable addition to our team.”

From 2000-2010, Reis served as a producer and fill-in supervising producer at NBC’s “The Today Show.” While in this role, he was Matt Lauer’s anchor-producer and worked closely with all talent and executives in helping to guide hard news segments and political coverage.

Previously, he served as a producer for NBC News Channel in Washington, D.C. (1996-2000), where he produced packages and field produced and conducted interviews for the Washington story of the day as well as consumer, medical, national, Supreme Court and other stories for NBC affiliates.

He began his career at NBC News Channel in Charlotte, N.C., where he worked as an associate producer from 1994-1996.

Reis currently lives on Long Island with his wife, Meredith, and their three children. He graduated from University of Massachusetts – Amherst with a B.A. in legal studies.

THE EARLY SHOW is broadcast weekdays (7:00-9:00 AM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and is co-anchored by Harry Smith, Maggie Rodriguez and Julie Chen with news anchor Erica Hill and weather anchor Dave Price.
