Marysol Castro Out at ‘The Early Show’

By Alex Weprin

This morning’s edition of “The Early Show” was the last for weather anchor Marysol Castro, TVNewser has learned.

Castro is expected to remain with CBS News for now, though for how long and in what role remains to be seen. Going forward, the local affiliates will handle weather forecasts during the program.

CBS has taken “The Early Show” in a different direction since the new leadership team of Jeff Fager and David Rhodes took over earlier this year. Former EP David Friedman left the program in May, and more of an emphasis was placed on serious news and politics during the morning hours.

Castro joined the CBS morning program in January, after the entire former anchor team was moved off of the show. Before joining CBS she served as weather anchor at the weekend edition of ABC’s “Good Morning America.”
