Marysol Castro Leaving ‘GMA’ Weekend

By Alex Weprin

“Good Morning America” weather person Marysol Castro is leaving the program, ABC News confirms to TVNewser.

Tomorrow, September 26, will be her last day on the show.

“After 6 years of great weekends, this one is bittersweet. It’s the last I’ll spend with all the great and talented people of GMAW-my home for the better part of the last decade,” said Castro. “While my next opportunity is an exciting one, I’m nonetheless sad at the prospect of leaving. I’ve had a wonderful stay and will miss so much of what makes GMA a great place to hang one’s hat-except those 3am wake-up calls. And so….on with the show.”

Castro is the third on-air talent to depart from “GMA Weekend” in the last six months, following Kate Snow, who went to NBC News in March and Bill Weir who moved to “Nightline” last month.

Before joining ABC News, Castro was a general assignment reporter at WPIX in New York City and a reporter for News 12 in the Bronx, a local cable news outlet owned by Cablevision.
