Market Mover Dan Dorfman Passes Away

By Chris Ariens

CNBC is remembering its former “market-moving journalist” Dan Dorfman today. Dorfman, 82, died Saturday in New York of cardiogenic shock.

The AP reports, “Dorfman’s market comments on the cable financial news channel could propel and sink stocks. He worked there until 1996. That same year, he was fired as a “Money” magazine columnist over an ethics controversy involving a stock promoter, but was never charged by regulators.”

Dorfman continued to cover the markets, writing for the Huffington Post until last year.

“Our thoughts are prayers are with the Dorfman family today,” said Melissa Lee at the end of today’s “Squawk on the Street”
