Mariotti Arraignment Postponed Until Oct. 1

Jay Mariotti will have his day in court … in two weeks.

Attorney David Edsall Jr. requested a continuance until Oct. 1 on behalf of Mariotti, who didn’t appear at the Central Arraignment Courthouse on Friday morning in Los Angeles.

Commissioner John W. Green issued a stay-away protection order for the protection of Mariotti’s girlfriend. The 51-year-old columnist is required to stay at least 100 yards away and is prohibited from contacting his girlfriend.

On Monday, Mariotti was charged with seven misdemeanors including two counts of domestic violence with injury and two counts of domestic violence. If convicted of all seven charges, he faces up to seven years in jail.

The charges stem from an Aug. 21 incident with his girlfriend at the couple’s Venice, Calif. condo after the two reportedly got into an argument at a nightclub earlier in the evening.

Mariotti and or his legal team are due back in court on Oct. 1 at 8:30 a.m. to enter a plea.
