Ratings: Manning Bowl 2 Bests the Original

Last night’s much-hyped match-up between the Indianapolis Colts (and Peyton Manning) and the New York Giants (with Eli Manning) may not have been the most exciting game in the world, but the ratings blew the competition out of the water.

According to Nielsen overnight ratings, the game drew a 15.4 rating/24 share for NBC. That is up from the first “Manning Bowl,” which was held in 2006. That game drew a 14.7 rating/23 share.

Meanwhile on CBS, the 4 PM contest between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots set network ratings records.

The game drew a 16.7 rating/32 share, the highest-rated first national game of the season for the network since it re-acquired NFL rights back in 1998
