Retired Navy chief petty officer Rollie Chance, who was misidentified as the perpetrator in the Navy Yard shootings early this week by NBC News and CBS News, is speaking out about what it’s like to have the media erroneously call you a killer.
Chance made his first (and so far only) TV interview on Fox News Channel’s “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren,” where he explained how he found out about the reports, and added that no one from NBC or CBS has apologized.
“My privacy was violated, I felt like my whole world was turned upside down and now I am left trying to put it all back together,” Chance said. “I am upset, I felt that I was wronged.”

Van Susteren, during the interview and in a lengthy post on her blog, argues that Chance should be compensated by NBC and CBS for the bad reporting.
Chance also spoke to The Huffington Post’s Sam Stein, telling him that ABC News also called him to ask if he “knew Rollie Chance” and whether he was the killer. ABC did not report Chance’s name in its reporting.
