The crazed man who slit his wrists outside the “Today” show Thursday speaks to the NY Daily News, who tracked him down in his hospital bed. Pak Chong Mar, who emigrated to the U.S. from China in 1948, said that he cut himself as a protest against the IRS, which he says stole a million dollars from him.

“I had to do something desperate to fight the corruption, fight the IRS,” Pak Chong Mar told a Daily News reporter as he lay on a hospital gurney at Bellevue Hospital. “They are so powerful.”

“I need people to help me fight for justice,” Pak said. “If I don’t do something drastic, sooner or later these guys are going to kill me anyway. I couldn’t even pay rent this month.”

Pak has made a gruesome public scene before. According to the NYPD, in 1995 he chopped off three of his fingers and threw them into the crowd at Flushing’s Dragon Board Festival.
