LZ Granderson is joining ABC News as a contributor.

“There are tremendous people at ABC, legends really, both in front of and behind the camera,” Granderson tells TVNewser. “I want to keep pushing myself to grow, to be forced to learn new ways of working, develop new relationships and discover a different way to tell stories.”

He’ll continue as a senior writer at ESPN where he has worked since 2005. But he will be leaving behind CNN, where he has been a contributor for several years.

“I’m a news junkie. So needless to say CNN is not disappearing from my world just because I now work at ABC,” Granderson says. “I’ll still talk to my friends who work there. I won’t tell them what I’m working on. I’ll miss working with the producers on stories like Ferguson and I’ll miss all of the wonderful anchors who made my job so enjoyable.”

Granderson got his start in print journalism working at newspapers including The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Kalamazoo Gazette, The South Bend Tribune and The Grand Rapids Press.

“LZ has a unique voice with deep knowledge across a broad spectrum of subjects,” says ABC News president James Goldston. “Already a familiar face on “This Week,” we’re pleased to have more of his perspective on politics, sports and pop culture across all of our shows and platforms.”
