Liu Says Despite “Less Bad News,” “People are Still Worried”

By SteveK

Today on the mediabistro.com Morning Media Menu podcast we were joined by Bloomberg TV anchor Betty Liu.

Liu has been with Bloomberg since 2007, after previously working at CNBC and the Financial Times. We talk to Liu about covering the financial crisis, her trip recently to Omaha to cover the Warren Buffett investor meeting and what’s on the horizon at Bloomberg (hint: big changes to Bloomberg.com).

“You’re still hearing a lot of concerns about where do we go in housing,” she says of viewer feedback. “There’s this uncertainty. I don’t want to paint the picture that suddenly in the next quarter we’re all going to be back to pre-crisis levels. People are still very worried.”

Liu was named to TV Week’s “Poised to Leap” list in November. “It was definitely very flattering,” she says. “But you also worry about being on that list because it puts you up to certain expectations.”

Also discussed: how economic coverage differs between countries, what can help the newspaper industry and what it’s like working at the unique Bloomberg building.
