Libby Leist Named ‘Today’ DC Senior Producer

By Merrill Knox

NBC News senate producer Libby Leist has been promoted to DC senior producer for “Today.”

Leist replaces Meaghan Rady, who was recently named deputy bureau chief in Washington. She has worked at NBC’s DC bureau since 2001, most recently as NBC’s capitol hill senior producer.

“I know we are all very much looking forward to working with her as the TODAY DC Senior Producer,” executive producer Jim Bell wrote in a note to “Today” staffers on Friday.

Some of you saw the recent announcement that our DC Senior Producer Meaghan Rady has been promoted to Deputy Bureau Chief in Washington. Congratulations and thanks to Meaghan for her great work at TODAY, especially with our excellent 2012 election coverage, which feels like it started just a few minutes after she took that role around the January 2009 inauguration. We are very fortunate that in her new role we will continue to benefit from her keen editorial eye and show knowledge. Please join me in thanking Meaghan and wishing her the very best.

Filling her formidable shoes will be Libby Leist, who has deep roots in the DC bureau, starting as a Desk Assistant there in 2001 and working with some of the best correspondents on the planet, including Bob Hager, Andrea Mitchell and our own Savannah Guthrie. She was most recently the Capitol Hill Senior Producer and I know we are all very much looking forward to working with her as the TODAY DC Senior Producer. Congratulations to Libby!
