Lester Holt Will Moderate NBC News, YouTube Democratic Candidates Debate

By Brian Flood

NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt will serve as moderator for the final Democratic presidential debate before the first primary and caucus votes are cast. NBC News and YouTube are teaming up to present the debate on Sunday, January 17 at 9 p.m. ET from Charleston, South Carolina. Holt will be joined by other yet-to-be-announced NBC News political reporters and analysts for additional coverage.

The event will be hosted by the Congressional Black Caucus Institute and will stream live on all NBC News digital platforms, NBC owned station and affiliate websites, and the NBC News YouTube channel. The event is sanctioned by the Democratic National Committee and the South Carolina Democratic Party.

NBC is still hopeful that it will host a GOP debate which was pulled from the network following the RNC’s displeasure with the CNBC debate in October.
